The fastest way to reach me is email:

statelinemove@docsanddeadlines.com

I read everything. I reply to most things within a few days, though it can take longer during busy weeks.

What I'd especially like to hear about

Corrections. If a state has changed a deadline, raised a fee, dropped an accepted proof-of- residency document, or added an inspection step since I checked the page, tell me — a screenshot or the URL of the state page is enough. Corrections from people who were just at the counter are the most useful thing I get, because agency websites often lag the practice inside the office.

Gaps. If you hit a step no guide here covers — a state that wanted something unusual, a lender that would not release a title, a combination of two states that made the ordinary order impossible — that is worth writing up. Say which two states were involved; the answer usually depends on both.

Questions. If you cannot find which clock starts first for your move, ask. I cannot tell you what to do, but I can point you to the exact state page or code section that governs it, and if the question comes up more than once it becomes a guide.

What I can't help with

  • Telling you whether you legally became a resident on a particular date, or which state you owe a tax return to — those depend on your facts and belong with a professional in the state concerned
  • Contacting a DMV, insurer, lender, or utility on your behalf, or checking the status of an application you have filed
  • Recommending a specific insurance policy, moving company, or title service
  • Anything about moving into or out of the United States, or immigration status
  • Requests to publish sponsored posts, paid guest articles, or link insertions
